Cookie and browser-storage list
| Name and storage | Purpose | Lifetime | Classification |
|---|---|---|---|
ploy_anon_idCookie | Gives the browser a pseudonymous identifier so Ploy can count unique visits and connect analytics events from the same browser. | One year from the latest visit. On maximum4.com it is scoped to the domain. | Statistical |
ploy_anon_idLocal storage | Keeps the same pseudonymous browser identifier available to the analytics engine. | Until you switch analytics off, clear site data or the value is replaced. | Statistical |
ploy_sessionLocal storage | Groups analytics events into one visit. | The session expires 30 minutes after it starts. The stored record is replaced after it expires or removed when analytics is switched off. | Statistical |
ploy_pending_eventsLocal storage, only when needed | Temporarily queues analytics events if they cannot be sent straight away. | Until the events are sent successfully, analytics is switched off or site data is cleared. | Statistical |
__ploy_tld_…Temporary cookie | Checks which domain can receive the analytics cookie. The random suffix changes each time. | Deleted immediately after the check. | Statistical |
maximum4_analyticsLocal storage | Remembers whether you switched browser analytics on or off. | Until you change the choice or clear site data. | Appearance |
The staging and production builds use the same analytics engine. The production build uses the storage listed above. The temporary domain-check cookie is not used on the staging ploy.build address because that address is excluded from domain scoping. We found no other production-only browser storage in the engine.
What the analytics records
Ploy's browser analytics records page views, traffic sources, clicks, scroll depth, form starts and form submissions. It sends these events to a first-party endpoint at /_ploy/ingest. It does not need or record the words entered into the enquiry form as part of those analytics events.
Ploy also runs visitor identification on this website. Using technical information from the visit, it may attribute a visit to a company and show us that company's name, domain, industry and size, and may suggest possible contacts at that company from Ploy's own data. Ploy states that it "does not collect or share net-new anonymous visitor data in GDPR-regulated regions such as the EU and UK", so for new visitors from the UK or EU this should not apply. We rely on legitimate interests for this: understanding which businesses show interest in our services. We do not use it to contact individuals who have not enquired. You can object at any time by emailing privacy@maximum4.com.
Why we use the statistical exception
We use the analytics identifiers only to understand how the website is used and to improve it. The analytics is first-party, and Maximum4 does not use it for advertising or sell it. You have clear information here and a simple free way to object by switching analytics off above.
